Welcome to Egbin Power Plc

Egbin Electric Power Plc is the largest power generating station in Nigeria with an installed capacity of 1320 MW consisting of 6 Units of 220MW each. It is in the generating sector of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) which is the state owned Electric Power company.

The mode of generating being thermal; the units are fired mainly by using Natural Gas supplied by Nigerian Gas Company (a subsidiary of NNPC) while some of the Units are available on oil firing (LPFO).Construction work started in 1982 by Marubeni Consortium whisch used Hitachi Company of Japan for Electric/Mechanical and Bouygues of France for Civil Works.

The first unit(Unit 3) was completed and commissioned in May, 1985 and the rest five(5) units were commissioned at six monthly intervals as shown in the table below:
